A Study on the Bible

The Bible is unique and wondrous. The Bible presents the history of the Hebrew people—but is much more. It is more than a history book and infinitely more than a collection of notable biographies, songs, and inspirational character-building stories.

The Bible is a living book—comprised of divinely inspired words of penetrating power—words that touch heart and soul—words that can change and save lives—words that never lose their meaning or potency. The Bible reveals who God is, who we are, and our spiritual need. The Bible reveals what God has done for us, and how He desires that we walk in right relationship with Him.

The Bible is a love story.  In page after page, we see God helping, giving, loving, sacrificing, and taking the initiative to demonstrate His affection. The love story culminates in Jesus’ sacrificial death at Calvary, in which He, Emmanuel, “God with us,” died for us so that we could live with Him, in His kingdom, forever.

The Bible reveals truth. In a world where truth seems elusive or subjective, Scripture ties truth to God—who is unchanging and whose power is absolute.

The prophetic dynamic of the Word is unparalleled. Of the more than 1000 prophecies, about 900 were to have been fulfilled by this point in history—and they have. Though Bible prophecy is extremely precise, such as the prophesies that the Messiah would be crucified (a prophecy given before crucifixion was a form of execution) and that none of his bones would be broken (atypical as in many cases, the leg bones of those being crucified would be broken to magnify agony and hasten their deaths), the accuracy rating for Bible prophecy is perfect—100%.  Many “sacred writings” in world religions present prophecies—but none can match the Bible’s accuracy or precision. Through prophecy, God reveals His sovereignty, power, and love. The fulfillment of Bible prophecy provides empirical proof that scripture is not only accurate, it is divinely inspired and should be viewed as the supreme source of truth and authority.

Over 100 million Bibles are sold yearly, yet strangely, few know very much about God’s Word. Scripture encourages believers to “study” the Word (2 Tim. 2:15), “examine” the Word (Acts 17:11), “hide the Word” in our hearts (Psa. 119:11), and be able to give a “defense” for the Word (1 Pet. 3:15). The information linked below will help you to do that.
